Car strikes bus in Phelps, one hospitalized

On Friday afternoon at noon a car and a bus were involved in a two car accident at the intersection of County Road 6 and Cross Road in the Town of Phelps. The accident occurred when a 2012 Ford SUV operated by Dawn Clar, 59, of Rochester was westbound on Cross Road when it collided with a 2012 Omnibus school bus being operated by Barbara Oberdorf, 44, of Canandaigua. Deputies say the school bus had no passengers at the time of the accident, and that the cause of the crash was due to Clar, operator of the SUV failing to yield the right of way to the bus. Oberdorf, the operator of the bus was hospitalized and transported to Geneva General by Phelps Ambulance after reporting neck pain. No other injuries were reported, according to deputies. Members of Oaks Corners Fire Department, Phelps Fire Department and Phelps Ambulance all reported to the scene. Clar was ticketed for the violation.
