Major drug bust in Tompkins County

On Friday, members of the Ithaca SWAT Team, Ithaca Police Investigative Division, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, Dryden Police Department and the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force performed warrant searches at two separate locations in Tompkins County. At about 5:09 am the Ithaca Police SWAT Team and the Tompkins County Drug Task Force assisted the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force in serving federal arrest warrants for Abdullah Yoda and Mushad Yoda. Both Abdullah Yoda and Mushad Yoda were wanted for Federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, narcotics trafficking conspiracy, and use of firearms in furtherance of narcotics conspiracy. Ithaca SWAT served the warrant at 92 Abbott Lane in the City of Ithaca, the residence of Tiara Giles. Upon entry into the location members of the Ithaca Police SWAT team secured the residence and subjects within. Mushad Yoda was located inside while Abdullah Yoda and Julia Jon-Hope were located outside of the residence just prior to the warrant being served.After securing the residence Tompkins County Drug Task Force members conducted a search of the residence and people inside the residence. Members located and secured more than two ounces of heroin, with an approximate street value of $10,000, more than 22 grams of crack cocaine, with a street value of approximately $3,000, scales and packaging materials consistent with drug sales, and $10,345 in US currency.Julia E. Jon-Hope, 17, of New York City was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree – a class B felony – and arraigned in Ithaca City Court. Jon-Hope was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 secured bond. Tiara L. Giles, 29, of Ithaca was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree – a class B felony. She was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond. Additional federal charges are pending for Jon-Hope and Giles.
