Rt. 364 closed Friday in Gorham due to crash

A Middlesex man was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital after an accident on State Route 364 in the Town of Gorham on Friday around 2:23 pm. Deputies in Ontario County say that Steven R. Jenks, 57, of MIddlesex was traveling southbound on State Route 364 when he lost control of his vehicle and left the east side of the roadway colliding with and severing a utility pole.Deputies say that after he was removed from the vehicle he was transported via ambulance to the Canandaigua Airport and then transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Mercy Flight. Jenks sustained a bruised lung from the accident, which was treated at Strong Memorial Hospital. Deputies believe a medical condition contributed to Jenks losing control of the vehicle. A green leafy sustance was found in the vehicle that Jenks was operating and tested positive for marijuana. He was ultimately arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and given an appearance ticket. He will appear in Gorham Town Court at a later date to answer the charge. The Canandaigua Ambulance and Fire Department, and Crystal Beach Fire Department assisted at the scene.Deputies say that Route 364 between County Road 18 and Turner Road was closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene. Several homes were without power for a short time on the road as well, as NYSEG replaced the utility pole and re-routed power to the area.
