53 protesters arrested at Crestwood gate (photos)

Monday was a busy afternoon for law enforcement and protesters in Reading. As protesters lined up at the gates of the Crestwood Midstream Facility on Seneca Lake a familiar outcome was reached. The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene when protesters began blocking traffic to and from the facility. While the protest was overwhelmingly peaceful, which kicked off around 7 am on Monday.53 protesters were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after deputies from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene. Those arrested at the protest by deputies included:Wes Gillingham: Program Director of Catskill MountainkeeperDavid Braun: Co-founder of Americans Against FrackingRachel Marco-Havens: Youth Engagement Director of Earth GuardiansDozens of Tompkins County residents were arrested in the protest, which was sparked by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s conditional approval of plans for Crestwood to expand methane storage at the facility in Reading.
