In a walk-on resolution Thursday evening, Auburn city council members unanimously voted to apply for funding assistance to design and plan a regional public market, a downtown welcome center and a microbrewery. Auburn Mayor Michael Quill was absent from the meeting.
The city will seek funding assistance from the New York state Environmental Protection Fund Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. As part of the application requirements, however, the city will be responsible to match 50 percent of the project — $289,750. That sum, should the city get the matching funds from the state, would come out of the city’s general fund.
