It has been a yearly success that has raised money, awareness, and spirits.
This year, event organizers hope to set the bar even higher – as Knapp Winery & Vineyard Restaurant hosts the third annual installment of the four course dinner. The dinner will be held on August 5, and will benefit Trevor’s Gift, a local backpack charity helping feed children in WAterloo.
The event will be presented by Executive Chef John McNabb with wine pairings by Knapp Winery, Ventosa Vineyards, Three Brothers Wineries & Estates, and Hosmer Winery. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased here.
All benefits raised from the dinner, raffle and silent auctions will go directly to helping to feed children in need. Guests are also asked to bring one non-perishable food item. Monetary donations can be made directly to Trevor’s Gift by contacting Doris Wolf at firstname.lastname@example.org
Organizers of the annual dinner include Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty, as well as the Finger Lakes Young Professionals. Residents and supporting businesses also provide unparalleled support for the event, which is critical in making this an annual success.
For those attending, the menu looks as follows:
Seafood and avocado salad tower with herbed tomato concasse, hot pickled onions, citrus herb gastrique and field greens
Garlic corn and poblano soup with chevre corn fritter and cilantro creme fraiche
Beef wellington with Cabernet Franc Demi glace, whipped potatoes and haricots vert
Cold poached apricot, peach and pear napoleon with sweetened cream, shortbread, with stonefruit Riesling reduction and candied spun sugar
In the last two years, this event raised more than $5,000 for Trevor’s Gift, which is a crucial organization for children in Waterloo. Trevor’s Gift is a not-for-profit organization that provides food for nutritionally needy children in Waterloo. Food is packed in bags and placed in the children’s backpacks for the weekend. Started almost 7 years ago, Trevor’s Gift has distributed over 30,000 food packages.
The bags of food are purchased from Foodlink in Rochester, at cost of $5 per bag, which equals a cost of just $200 per school year.
