Phelps man accused of forging checks from SF business; charged with two felonies

A Phelps man was arrested on a warrant issued out of Seneca Falls in connection with a series of thefts from a local business located in the Town of Seneca Falls.

Authorities say Jeffrey L. Worden, 28, of Phelps was arrested on that warrant, which charged him with two counts of forgery in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree — both felonies — as well as six counts of petit larceny.

Worden is accused of stealing a total of six checks from a local business, forging two of the checks and cashing them to receive money for the checks, which totaled $1,300, according to police.

He was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on no bail. Worden will re-appear at a later date to answer the charges.
