Child seat safety check to take place in Cayuga County

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Cayuga Seneca Action Agency is offering a Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspection in support of National Child Passenger Safety Week September 18-24, 2016 and Seat Check Saturday on September 24, 2016.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury death for children ages 1 through 12. Most tweens (8 to 12-year-olds) seriously injured or killed in crashes were not wearing seat belts or were wearing them incorrectly. Tweens are also more likely to get hurt in crashes when riding in the front seat. Many deaths and injuries could be prevented if children were properly secured in an appropriate child restraint.

In order to complete the inspection both the car seat and child must be present. Contact Sue Roy with any questions at (315) 253-1087.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Cayuga Seneca Action Agency located at 89 York St., in Auburn.
