Two Middlesex residents were hospitalized on Thursday after a one-car crash on County Road 1 in the Town of Gorham around 6:36 am.
Deputies say that the driver, John N. Scott, 65, of Middlesex was traveling north on County Road 1 in the Town of Gorham, and while attempting to pass another vehicle lost control of his own causing it to travel off the road, down an embankment — flipping multiple times.
Scott and his passenger, Matthew K. Northrup, 29, of Middlesex were trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by Rushville Fire Department. Scott suffered a head injury and was transported by Canandaigua Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital — while Northrup suffered an arm injury and was transported to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
Scott was issued tickets for unsafe speed and passing in a no passing zone. Rushville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
