Age of the roundabouts: Ontario County preparing to build its fourth, this one to slow traffic at dangerous Phelps intersection

The intersection of County Road 23, Fort Hill and McIvor roads in this Ontario County town is by no means the busiest in the county, but it has seen its share of serious crashes over the years.

County and town officials hope those will be a thing of the past after the county starts building its fourth roundabout, perhaps next year. Projected to cost between $1.6 million and $2.5 million, the funds came through the federal program known as HSIP (Highway Safety Improvement Program).
