Highway superintendent hits the road: Achilles retires after 22 years

If every winter in the Finger Lakes were like the winter of 2015-16, Dave Achilles might work another 10 years. He’s been around long enough, however, to know that last year’s mild, nearly snow-free winter was a rarity. So he’s retiring at the end of the month after more than 20 years as the town’s highway superintendent.
