Heavy traffic expected for holiday weekend, Finger Lakes region is top destination

Many western and central New York families will travel this holiday weekend, increasing traffic across the state, AAA said Wednesday. According to AAA analysis, compared to an average Monday, there will be a 10-percent increase in New York Thruway traffic on Labor Day. Heavy traffic is expected due to low gas prices — the lowest since 2004 — and record-breaking warm summer weather.
