Lyons man charged with second degree murder after stabbing on Friday

One person is dead after a stabbing Friday night in the Town of Lyons.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to the report of a stabbing that occurred at 14 Franklin St. The report came in around 10:30 pm.

Investigators say that when they arrived one man, who was later identified as Hector Marquez, 41, of Lyons was laying in the road with multiple stab wounds.

Marquez was taken to Newark Wayne Hospital where he was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained during the stabbing.

While few details have emerged on the events leading up to the stabbing, investigators say that Marzuez and Pedro Colon, 62, of Lyons had gotten into an argument in a nearby apartment building.

Colon then use what investigators believe was a knife to stab Marquez multiple times. He has since been charged with second degree murder.
