On Thursday, Sept. 8 and Wednesday, Sept. 14, del Lago Resort & Casino will host two job fairs for anyone interested in becoming a table game dealer. The resort and casino will be looking for 480 trainees for the del Lago Resort & Casino dealer school, which will be free for those selected to attend.
“The growth of our team is starting to match the progress we’re making with the construction of del Lago itself,” said Jeff Babinski, executive vice president and general manager at del Lago Resort & Casino. “While we are building a beautiful casino, we are also building the foundation of a great experience, which is always done with people. When we open in February 2017, we’ll have hired several hundred dealers who will help craft unique experiences for our guests and support our overall goal to increase tourism to the Finger Lakes.”
The two job fairs will put interested candidates on a path to a casino career making $7.50 per hour, averaging $17.50 per hour including tips and earning on average more than $35K per year. Previous table-games experience is not required. Each job fair will give interested candidates an opportunity to meet del Lago Resort & Casino leadership, learn more about the job requirements and have their questions answered to help determine if this is a career path they wish to pursue further.
The two job fair events will be held:
- 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Finger Lakes Community College – 63 Pulteney St., Geneva, N.Y.
- 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Cayuga Community College – 197 Franklin St., Auburn, N.Y.
Interested candidates will be able to apply for admission into dealer school which will be offered at no charge to those selected. After successfully completing dealer training school, they will have the opportunity to apply and audition for a job as table games or poker dealer. Once open, del Lago—a non-smoking, non-tribal casino– will create 500 full and part-time dealer positions as part of the announced 1,800 new permanent jobs. Sixty to seventy percent of the positions will be full-time with benefits such as 401K and paid time off.
Additional job opportunities will be announced in the coming months with the bulk of hires taking place November 2016 through January 2017.
