New York’s economic money lacks oversight, group says

New York is set to spend $8.6 billion this year on incentives and tax breaks to companies, but the money is being doled out without enough safeguards to protect the taxpayers, a report Monday charged.

The report from the business-backed Citizens Budget Commission comes just days after 10 developers and former aides to Gov. Andrew Cuomo were charged in a sweeping corruption scandal that alleged big rigging and self dealing involving state contracts.
