The Town Board Monday voted 4-0 to adopt a tentative 2017 town budget that will keep tax rates about the same as this year.
Nonetheless, the board voted to introduce a local law to override the state’s property tax cap, should it be necessary. There will be a public hearing on the override local law at the Oct. 24 board meeting.
“We’ve cut back in some areas and had small increases in others. The tax rates will only be a few cents different than this year,’’ said Supervisor Gary Westfall.
