Hundreds of senior citizens get property tax rebate checks worth less than promised

New York State has finally started mailing property-tax rebate checks to senior citizen homeowners. But the checks are for less money than they’re entitled to from the state’s Enhanced Star Tax Exemption program. New York State says they are aware of the problem and will send out additional checks.

Good news and bad news. The good news is that New York State has finally started mailing property-tax rebate checks to homeowners.

The bad news, however, is that hundreds of senior citizens are getting checks for less money than they’re entitled to. Some media outlets are reporting that the checks coming in the mail aren’t living up to what New York promised.
