Last week the Beverly Animal Shelter introduced three, people friendly Pit Bull Ladies. This week there are two Pit Bull Gentlemen and one adorable Mama Kitty who are ready to be your companions forever.
SIMBA & CASHES
Two Gentle Giants who were surrendered due to unfortunate circumstances. They are 2½ years old and have never been separated. Neutered and up to date on their vaccinations, they are good on a leash and not big barkers. If not already, they will be micro-chipped before adoption. It is desired that they be adopted together.
A light brown, brindle Pit, Simba looks to have some Mastiff in his family tree. He is estimated to weigh 76 to 80 pounds.
A black brindle Pit with white toes, bib and a white spot on top of his nose (and check out the tip of his tail), Cashes is just a bit smaller than Simba. He is estimated to weigh 65 to 70 pounds.
This sweet dark Calico Tabby Mama loves to be held and cuddled. Don’t be fooled by her masculine name. Perhaps the name was supposed to be “Gracia(s)”. That is, Garcia should be thankful that she was saved from the streets the day before she had her kitten. Garcia’s baby has found a home and now it is her turn. Just over 1 year old, affectionate Garcia is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and Feleuk.
LAST WEEK’S PETS – All of last week’s very friendly Pit Bull Ladies, Kristy, Swifty and Ashley, remain waiting for their forever home.
The next BAS Fundraiser will be The A-PAW-COLYPSE Run with Ghouls in Waterloo beginning at 5:00pm on Saturday, October 15. Call the Shelter at 539-9357 for more information. Registration and entry forms (due by Oct 8) can be found online at http://beverlyanimalshelter.com/events-3/
The Beverly Animal Shelter is currently offering potential “barn” cats – neutered/spayed and vaccinated, friendly, outdoor cats who are good mousers, for $10. Please contact the Shelter for more information.
The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.
DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER YOUR HELP TO THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER? BUT CAN’T BE AT THE SHELTER FOR WHATEVER REASON (HOME COMMITMENTS, ALLERGIES ETC.) WELL, THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO HELP. HOW ABOUT:
HELPING WITH OFFSITE ADOPTION EVENTS
UPDATING THE BAS WEBSITE
POSTING PETS ON PETFINDER
KEEPING THE FINGER LAKES TIMES UPDATED WITH RECENT LOST & FOUND PETS.
THESE ARE JUST A FEW PLACES EXTRA HANDS AND MINDS ARE NEEDED REGULARLY. CALL THE SHELTER AT 539-9357 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME.
Unfortunately, The Purina Pets for Seniors Fund has been DISCONTINUED. However, BAS is attempting to continue Senior adoptions on an individual basis through the generosity of others.
The Board of Directors of the Beverly Animal Shelter is working hard to give you all the information you need to properly take care of your pet. Please be advised that the Shelter website has changed to simply http://www.beverlyanimalshelter.com.
Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!
THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE PAST YEAR!!
The Shelter is no longer accepting scrap metal to recycle. However, they continue to accept returnable bottles and cans. For more information, call the Shelter at (315)539-9357. Be sure to wash out your returnables.
SHELTER NEEDS –
Thankfully, Dallyn is happy to announce that the Town of Tyre has joined Interlaken, Romulus and the Town of Waterloo in setting limits on the number of dogs one individual can own. Now, for the rest of Seneca County…
Round II of Kitten Season is well underway!! BAS needs you! To help the Shelter out, please go to www.FirstGiving.com/bas.
Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.
Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please see Dallyn for more information.
Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
We invite you to come and meet our wonderful creatures in person. The Shelter is open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM daily EXCEPT SUNDAY and Wednesday. The store is open from 9:00 to 6:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 Saturday. Questions, call (315)539-9357 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Yes, you can still view our pets on Petfinder.com, but have you had difficulty getting more up to date information on the Beverly Animal Shelter? There is always the very informative Beverly Animal Shelter Online found at http://beverlyanimalshelter.com/ where most of your questions can easily be answered.
