Explosive meeting in Rusvhille over vacant building erodes into name calling

The boy scouts of Troop 243 watched local government at its best and worst Monday as they joined about 75 area residents for a Village Board of Trustees meeting that saw neighbor pitted against neighbor.

Eagle Scout hopefuls were there to learn the importance of government and find out how they could be involved. What they saw was animated, respectful debate that devolved into accusations, name-calling, and even a gesture on the part of one trustee threatening to call 911 to have a member of the audience evicted.

At the center of debate was the future of the village-owned Martin Tire building at 7 N. Main St., formerly the home of Imperial Wrestling Club, headed up by Marcus Whitman wrestling coach Terry Lucero.
