Victor supervisor: Town taxes could double

Residents can expect to see their town tax rates more than double in 2017, thanks to an apparent oversight by the town’s financial auditing firm, coupled with flagging sales tax and mortgage tax revenues and state-mandated tax levy limits.

In a prepared statement Tuesday, longtime Victor Supervisor Jack Marren said it was Town Finance Director Barb Cole, hired in August, who uncovered important information not highlighted in the May audit report presented to Town Board members by the town’s auditing firm, The Bonadio Group.
