A Hemlock man has been formally charged in a domestic incident that occurred on September 25th after he allegedly was involved in a dispute with his wife, brandished a shotgun around family members, and then drove while under the influence of alcohol.
Deputies say that Robert D. Shaw, 23, of Hemlock was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and menacing in the second degree after being involved in a domestic dispute with his wife Samantha Andrews, as well as her family.
Shaw allegedly brandished a shotgun at 9008 Howcroft Road while standing on the porch after being asked to leave the property by Todd Curtis, 47, of Hemlock — who was the homeowner of the property. Deputies say that when Shaw brandished the gun he put Curtis in reasonable fear.
Further investigation revealed that Shaw operated a Chevrolet pickup truck on Howcroft Road to get to Curtis’ residence while in an intoxicated condition. Shaw had a prior DWI conviction, which made the latest charge a felony, according to deputies.
Shaw was transported to the Ontario County Jail where he submitted to a Datamaster DMT test to determine the amount of alcohol in his blood. He had a blood-alcohol content of .15, according to investigators.
He was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court on September 26th and will answer the charges against him at a later date.
