The William Smith College soccer team remained the No. 1 team in the nation in the D3soccer.com poll for the fourth week in a row, receiving all 17 first place votes. The Herons dropped one spot to No. 2 in this week’s NSCAA poll.
William Smith improved to 10-0-0 with Liberty League road wins over Skidmore and Rensselaer over the weekend. The Herons have logged shutouts in six of their last seven matches. It’s the first time William Smith has opened the season with 10 straight wins since the 1988 season. That year, the Herons logged 14 wins to open the year, before tying St. Lawrence 0-0 and then falling to Cortland in their regular season finale.
