Geneva City Councilor opposes City Hall renovations

The Geneva City Council has scheduled a series of budget workshops to put the finishing touches on the proposed 2017 budget. But today’s session at 6 pm has been reclassified as a special meeting because there’s a possibility the spending plan could be adopted. “We had requests from several councilors to schedule the adoption for Wednesday, just in case we could get to consensus by the end of the night,” City Manager Matt Horn said last week. “We have [Oct. 25] booked, in case we need more time.”

    I can’t blame them for wanting to redo that elevator. It’s soooo old. It needs to be done. I do think having meetings at the public safety building is good though. There’s enough parking and room for every one to sit. Not quite sure why police presence would make any one feel uncomfortable. They’re just officers. I love the clock on city hall. But I too am all for saving money.
