Canandaigua man accused of striking baby in the face

On Monday morning at 8:30, the Canandaigua Police Department arrested 23-year-old Todd J. Vandemortel II, of Jefferson Street in Canandaigua, for assault in the second degree.

Vandemortel is accused of hitting a one-year-old child on the face, which caused the baby to sustain five linear red and purple marks running parallel to one another and extensive bruising to the cheek, temple, and ear areas.

Vandemortel was arraigned at the Canandaigua City Court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of bail.

Vandemortel is due to reappear in the Canandaigua City Court on 10/26/16 at 8:30 am.

    Bail was only 1500.. Why? Why not zero. Why not the highest it could have been.. This girl had a picture of the baby… Just terrible. Terrible. Why was bail so low? Not right!!!

    Our court system sucks! That low life SOB should not be let loose. Poor little baby…. He needs to be throat punched by everyone….eye for an eye.

    Can you get his picture off of here?! It drives me nuts to even look at it. You guys should see how everyone is liking the new website too…I think the old format was way better. There is too many links and advertisements and have to click on a article three times to read the whole thing.
