For Jessica Gentile, it started with a kidney stone. For Nicholas Campagnola, it was an injury from wrestling. And for Jessica Enge and Christopher Socci, it was a mixture of heartbreak and mental illness. All different reasons. All addicted to heroin.
“It can happen to anybody,” Nicholas’ father Joel Campagnola said, staring at a picture of his son. “It can happen to you.” That was the message a panel of local parents shared at Auburn High School Tuesday night in an effort to educate the community on the dangers of drug addiction.
