Bloomfield man charged with DWI after being rescued from burning vehicle

A Bloomfield man was arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies responded to a car accident in the Town of Victor.

Deputies were called to Dryer Road in Victor for the report of a crash. When they arrived, deputies found a vehicle that had been operated by Michael W. Slusser, 32, of Bloomfield on fire.

Investigators say that Slusser’s vehicle crossed the center line, struck a parked vehicle – which was unoccupied – and caught on fire. Slusser was also trapped inside the burning vehicle, but deputies were able to quickly extinguish the fire – and remove him from the vehicle.

Deputies say that Slusser suffered only minor injuries and after investigation he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and will answer the driving while intoxicated charge at a later date in Victor Town Court.

Honeoye Falls Ambulance also assisted at the scene, as well as Victor and Fisher’s Fire Departments.
