Newark-Wayne Hospital announces new Chief of Emergency Medicine

Rochester Regional Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Marita Michelin, MD, FACEP, as chief of emergency medicine of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Michelin comes to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital from Baylor, Scott & White (College Station, Texas), where she served as medical director for emergency medicine services.

“With her years of experience as an emergency room physician and medical director, Marita is uniquely suited to lead the emergency medical services team at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital,” said Rochester Regional Health eastern region president, Dustin Riccio, MD. “Her training, knowledge and leadership will enhance the quality services we provide to patients who come to our emergency department for care. I am very impressed with how she has quickly embraced our hospital, medical staff and community.”

She emphasizes a team-oriented approach to health care.

“I am privileged to join such a well-established hospital in Newark with the strong support of the patient centered health system in Rochester Regional Health. I am excited to join the team in continuing to offer the best possible medical care to the Wayne County community,” Michelin said.

Prior to her position at Baylor, Scott & White, Dr. Michelin held a number of leadership roles at Danbury Hospital (Danbury, Connecticut) in their Level II Trauma Center and Primary Chest Pain and Stroke Center.

Dr. Michelin earned her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Applied Physiology degrees from Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School (Chicago).
