Got election anxiety? You’re definitely not alone, according to experts

People want this election to be over — and after today, they will get their wish. The months of sniping political ads, mudslinging and shouting about the future of our nation has everyone on edge — so much so that a local mental health professional on Tuesday will share ways to cope during a live stream interview accessed on UR Medicine Facebook.

“It’s no understatement to say this presidential election has touched a national nerve,” says UR Medicine therapist Kevin Coffey, a member of the University of Rochester Medical Center Department of Psychiatry who also cares for patients in his faculty practice. Coffey’s live interview at 9:45 a.m. can also be replayed anytime afterwards on the UR Facebook page.
