The 2016 harvest is done in the Finger Lakes. We finished at CJS Vineyards early in October, and some vineyards along the big lakes of Seneca and Cayuga hung the red grapes until late October. Looking back, we can say 2016 was one wild ride! A warm winter, then the “Valentine’s Day massacre” of minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and then a dry, hot drought of a summer. The crop was smaller than normal (whatever that is anymore), but the fruit quality was excellent.
