Stepping out your door early this morning, you may get the impression it will be another decently mild day in the Finger Lakes. You will not want to leave your coat at home though, as it will be quite chilly by the afternoon. A cold front is moving through the region this morning. There are only a few widely scattered showers with this front with most areas not seeing any rain. Despite its lack of precipitation, it remains a potent cold front.
Temperatures behind the front will spend most of the day sliding backwards. While morning temperatures are around 50 degrees, noontime temperatures will be closer to 40 degrees with most of the area into the 30s by dusk later this afternoon. Not only will the temperature be dropping, but the wind will be blowing. Wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph will be commonplace. This will actually result in a wind chill in the low 30s as early as noon and into the 20s for some areas this afternoon.
