Herons advance to NCAA 2nd round with 5-0 win over Lancers

The No. 1 William Smith College soccer team scored two goals in the first half and added three more in the second to down Worcester State in an NCAA tournament first round match. The Herons improve to 19-0-0 this season.

The Lancers finished their season with a 9-7-2 overall record. Junior Theresa Lohr led William Smith with two assists. It was the 13th straight shutout for the Herons and their 15th of the season. William Smith, who is making a record 27th appearance in the NCAA tournament, advances to the tournament second round where it will face the Trinity (Conn.). The Bantams played WPI to a 0-0 double overtime tie and advanced 3-1 on penalty kicks in their first round game.
