Victor passes $13M budget making 106% property tax increase official

After two public hearings and strong pushback from angry residents whose taxes will go up by 106 percent, Victor Town Board members passed a controversial $13 million budget for 2017. But it wasn’t pretty.

An accusatory verbal volley between councilmen Dave Tantillo and Silvio Palermo after the 4-to-1 vote in favor of the town’s $13,075,469 spending plan left residents frustrated at both their representatives and the budget itself. The plan bears a jarring 113 percent tax levy increase and a 106 percent hike in the town tax rate.
