A Himrod man has died from injuries sustained in an accident that happened in the Town of Geneva on Friday around 6:35 am.
Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office say that they were called to a motor vehicle accident on Route 14 in the Town of Geneva. When deputies arrived they found that a vehicle had veered off the west side of the road, traveling down an embankment, and striking a cement culvert.
Deputies say that the operator of the vehicle, John R. Stryker, 22, of Himrod had to be extricated from the vehicle by White Springs Road and West Lake Road Fire Departments. Stryker was transported by Finger Lakes Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital.
Deputies report that Stryker later died at Geneva General from the injuries he sustained in the accident. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, but airbags did deploy. His vehicle was completely destroyed in the wreck, which left the Sheriff’s Office and the Geneva Fire Department reconstructing the accident at the scene after the vehicle was towed away.
Investigation is ongoing into the cause of the accident.
