Nearly 400 people gathered Friday evening at the Finger Lakes Community College Student Center to recognize the achievements of local women. Ann Scheetz, executive director of the Ontario ARC, was named the recipient of this year’s ATHENA Award. The agency serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Ontario County.
“This award acknowledges that our community recognizes diversity,” said Scheetz, who accepted the award on behalf of ARC and “all the good work that we do.” After serving in a variety of positions within the agency, she moved into the role of executive director in 2012. She credited friends and family for “keeping her grounded” and reminding her of “what’s important in life.”
