Dennis takes Ontario County judge seat

First Assistant District Attorney Brian Dennis will be the next Ontario County Court judge, according to unofficial results from the Ontario County Board of Elections. Dennis, a Democrat, on Thursday increased his lead to 468 votes over Republican Terence L. Robinson Jr., after most of the absentee ballots were counted Thursday.

Between 50 and 60 ballots still are to be counted. Results still have to be certified, but Dennis thanked voters and supporters, who included family, friends and law enforcement. “Public service has been the focus of my career since I joined the Ontario County District Attorney’s office over 29 years ago,” Dennis said in a Facebook post. “I am thrilled about the opportunity to serve our community in this new capacity starting in January.”
