Naples Town Attorney accused of forcible touching

The Naples town attorney was arrested Nov. 2 after being accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl while carrying out his duties as the Yates County public defender. State police charged 69-year-old Edward Brockman, of Naples, with forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor, in connection with the incident involving an 18-year-old client that allegedly took place in his Penn Yan office.

Naples Town Clerk Joanne Lincoln initially denied comment Friday on whether the accusations would impact Brockman’s position as town attorney. Lincoln suggested that at this point there would be no reprimand. “The man has been accused of something that hasn’t been proven, and it isn’t influencing what he does for the town,” she said.
