The No. 1 William Smith College soccer team scored with 3.7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3-3 and send their NCAA quarterfinal match into overtime, but it was No. 23 Brandeis that scored 1:43 into the extra period to secure the win.
The Herons led 2-0 in the 74th minute, but the Judges (16-4-3) scored three goals in a span of 7:46 to take a 3-2 lead with 8:04 left in regulation. Junior Lauren Kogelmann was able to body the ball over the goal line after a pass from senior Brie Ruane to tie the game up at 3-3 in the final minute. However, Brandeis’ Jessica Morana scored the game-winner for the Judges, sending them to the national semifinals for the first time in their program’s history.
