Weather played a role in Tyre crash on Route 318 Monday afternoon

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce reports on Monday at approximately 1:20 pm, deputies responded to State Route 318 in the Town of Tyre for a two car head on crash with injuries.

Deputies say a vehicle operated by Phillip G. Seaton, 29, of Port Byron was traveling east on State Route 318 when Seaton lost control on hazardous road conditions. Seaton’s vehicle crossed into the path of a westbound vehicle being operated by Joseph Beniamino, 49, of Auburn and collided head on.

Beniamino complained of neck pain and was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance. Seaton complained of back pain but refused treatment. Seaton was issued a traffic ticket for speed not reasonable and prudent.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. Magee fire and North Seneca Ambulance assisted at the scene.
