Here is a factoid that you probably suspected, but Gov. Andrew Cuomo is confirming.
The Wednesday preceding and the Sunday following Thanksgiving are typically two of the busiest days on the state Thruway system, with the heaviest travel periods between noon and 8 p.m. on those days. The Thruway is prepared to handle the additional traffic volume, Cuomo said.
AAA predicts that more than 3 million New Yorkers have made plans to travel more than 50 miles from home on this Thanksgiving holiday, which for some started Wednesday and continues through Sunday. That’s up about 40,000 from 2015. About 2.7 million of those travelers will be driving.
