As Winter rears its threatening head, the pets at the Beverly Animal Shelter anxiously hope to find a home of their own very soon. To encourage the older cat adoptions, all Felines 2 years old and older have a special low-cost adoption fee of only $9.85 until January 1, 2017. This week, we feature 2 affectionate felines available at that discounted price. Also, take a little time to meet one Happy canine.
Please remember, the end of the Year brings our request for your “Happy Tail”. Have you adopted a pet featured here? Have they made your life that much better? Please send a note about your pet and a recent picture. We’d like to share your success.
Black and white Happy was surrendered at the end of September when his owner was no longer able to care for him. Possibly a Great Dane/Dalmatian mix, this lanky boy is 1 to 2 years old and weighs around 65 pounds. Happy is a happy dog with a waggie tail. He is clean in his cage, good on a leash and knows his name. Happy is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and micro-chipped. Are you ready for a large playful puppy? Happy is waiting for you.
Recent arrival, Max is a handsome, big hunk of white and black Kitty. Estimated to be 2 to 3 years old, he has an adorable, and somewhat unique, white tip on his tail. Friendly Max enjoys playing like a little kitten. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.
A petite dark Tiger, Tink is thought to be just about 2 years old. She is a quiet girl who loves people. Tink is even said to follow people as if she were their dog. However, Tink does not like other cats, especially kittens. She is looking for a gentle, loving home where she will be the only cat. Tink is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.
LAST WEEK’S PETS – All of last week’s Black Friday Felines, Furby, Milton and Twitchie, remain hopefully waiting for their purrfect human.
From now, until January 1, 2017, there’s an adoption special … all cats 2 years and older will be only $9.85!

The Beverly Animal Shelter is currently offering potential “barn” cats – neutered/spayed and vaccinated, friendly, outdoor cats who are good mousers, for $10. Please contact the Shelter for more information.
The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.
DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.

Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!
THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE PAST YEAR!!
The Shelter is no longer accepting scrap metal to recycle. However, they continue to accept returnable bottles and cans. For more information, call the Shelter at (315)539-9357. Be sure to wash out your returnables.
SHELTER NEEDS –
Thankfully, Dallyn is happy to announce that the Town of Tyre has joined Interlaken, Romulus and the Town of Waterloo in setting limits on the number of dogs one individual can own. Now, for the rest of Seneca County…
Winter has arrived!! BAS needs you! To help the Shelter out, please go to www.FirstGiving.com/bas.
Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.
Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please see Dallyn for more information.
Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
We invite you to come and meet our wonderful creatures in person. The Shelter is open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM daily EXCEPT SUNDAY and Wednesday. The store is open from 9:00 to 6:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 Saturday. Questions, call (315)539-9357 or email email@example.com.
Yes, you can still view our pets on Petfinder.com, but have you had difficulty getting more up to date information on the Beverly Animal Shelter? There is always the very informative Beverly Animal Shelter Online found at http://beverlyanimalshelter.com/ where most of your questions can easily be answered.
