Federal auditors release spending freeze on Auburn Police Department funds

It appears a federal review of accounts controlled by the Auburn Police Department is coming to a close, city officials said Thursday.

The U.S. Department of Justice moved last December to freeze the APD’s funds from the Asset Forfeiture program, which allocates proceeds from drug seizure investigations to participating agencies. This past February, the DOJ initiated an audit of two city-controlled forfeiture accounts, which contained approximately $432,000 between the two.
