NY AG: Skaneateles man, company convicted of dumping polluted water into CNY creek

A Skaneateles man and his company have been convicted of environmental law crimes after state officials found the firm dumping polluted water into an Onondaga County creek. Michael Jones, 44, pleaded guilty Thursday to three misdemeanor charges for dumping liquids containing hazardous substances into Ley Creek.

He also admitted to keeping petroleum-contaminated soil on property owned by his company, Coast Transportation and Recycling. Coast, a recycling facility in Salina, pleaded guilty to a felony charge for dumping the pollutants without obtaining the proper state permit.
