Seven historic homes await visitors in Canandaigua

From the rooftop at 60 Gibson St. in the mid-19th century, Augustus Coleman captured life in Canandaigua through photographs. Discovered many years later in the home’s attic, those photos became the subject of an exhibit, “Backyards of 1856 Canandaigua,” at the Ontario County Historical Society Museum where his camera, glass plate negatives, books and artwork are preserved. Like all seven historic homes on Sonnenberg’s Holiday Home Tour taking place Saturday, the house at 60 Gibson St. tells a piece of the story that is Canandaigua.
