Portions of Penn Yan were without power on Wednesday after winds knocked down part of a tree onto wires.
The outage impacted power, telephone and internet service in the area of Main Street. The tree limb came down onto the wires where Main Street and Clinton Street intersect in the village.
A passing tractor-trailer caught some of the wires, according to Fire Chief Bill LaRock. Along with the wires, a traffic signal, signal pole, and utility pole all came down as well.
While crews worked to restore power — portions of both roads were closed.
No word has been received on how quickly power will be restored, or if power has been restored already. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
