W-FL Wednesday: Marcus Whitman extends West lead; LaBobmbard triple-double not enough for Red Jacket win

Four Finger Lakes West boys varsity basketball teams were in action on Wednesday night along with a full Wayne County and Finger Lakes East girls slate.

The biggest match-up heading into the night pitted West leading Marcus Whitman Wildcats against second place Dundee. The game was never close as Whitman rolled to their 10th straight win to take a commanding 4 game lead atop the league standings. The rest of the league continues to be an absolute crapshoot as HAC defeated Bloomfield, Naples got back on track against South Seneca, and Red Jacket fell to Honeoye despite a triple-double by the Indians’ Lawrence LaBobmbard.

Interestingly, the triple-double by LaBombard was only the second of the season by any player in the entire Wayne-Finger Lakes. The other? LaBombard’s teammate Dan Brown who went for 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 blocks against H.A.C. back on December 6th. LaBombard’s 18 rebounds are the most in a single game by any player in the Wayne-Finger Lakes this season tying Midlakes’ Daryn Carswell’s 18 rebound total in a loss to Waterloo last week.

Full results of Wednesday night’s action for the boys and girls on the local hardwood is below along with updated standings, upcoming schedules, and the top tweets of the night from across the Wayne-Finger Lakes…
