Spectrum's Time Warner Cable deliberately scammed customers by promising internet speeds the company knew it couldn't produce, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman charged in a lawsuit Wednesday.
The lawsuit was filed against Charter Communications Inc. and its subsidiary Spectrum Management Holdings, which merged with Time Warner Cable last year. The cable conglomerate is the largest provider in New York, serving one in three households, or about 2.5 million subscribers. Schneiderman accused it of running a monopoly on internet service and bilking consumers through deceptive ads.
