Wayne County man sentenced to 1-3 years for vehicular homicide

Before Wayne County Judge Daniel Barrett entered the third-floor courtroom on Thursday morning, half of the gallery seating was filled by family and friends of James and Tammy Eatherly, of Palmyra.

Several of them held packages of tissue and photos of the married couple that depicted them through the years of their lives — lives cut short when they were both killed in the town of Sodus while riding a motorcycle in August 2015.

A few of the family and friends wore black T-shirts, made in honor of the couple. The front of the shirts stated, “One life, live it.”

On the opposite side of the third-floor courtroom gallery, sitting quietly in the front row was 60-year-old Thomas P. Barto, of Ontario — the man responsible for the wreck that killed the couple.
