Man sent to prison for attacking ex-girlfriend in Cayuga County

A Tompkins County man will spend the next one to three years in prison for attacking his ex-girlfriend in Auburn last summer.

Harry R. White, 31, of Groton, was arrested in August 2016 after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend.

At the time, the Auburn Police Department said an argument broke out between White and the victim on Lansing Street where White threatened her with an ax, struck her in the head with a pellet pistol and strangled her with a belt. In addition, police said White headbutted and punched the victim, and damaged a parked vehicle with a cinder block.
