Lyons man arraigned on murder charge

The Wayne County man arrested after being accused of fatally stabbing another man at a Lyons rooming house last September has been charged with murder.

Pedro Colon, 62, of Lyons, is accused of killing 41-year-old Hector Marquez on Sept. 2, following an argument at the Iroquois Hotel, where the two men resided.

Colon was shackled and in a black-and-white striped jumpsuit when he appeared in Wayne County Court on Friday morning before Judge John Nesbitt. The court proceedings were communicated to him through a Spanish-speaking translator.

Colon was there to be arraigned on a series of charges that, aside from second-degree murder, a class A-II felony, included first-degree manslaughter, a class B felony; second-degree manslaughter, a class C felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor.
