The races are on in Starkey

The 2017 racing schedule at Outlaw Speedway is set and track owner Tyler Siri can begin getting his team and facility ready for a busy season now that Starkey Town officials have authorized the track’s operating permit.

At the Feb. 9 Starkey Town Board meeting board members directed Code Enforcement Officer Brian Quackenbush to issue the permit with the guidelines that racing action will not continue past 1 a.m.

Discussions in the Dundee and Starkey community about the late night noise levels from the race track began in 2016 after the track’s opening night lasted until 3 a.m. At the time, Siri explained too much water had been put on the track, creating a need for extra time to work the moisture into the clay surface. But some people who live within earshot of the track were disturbed by the extended noise that night.
